Michael and I hadn't been back home to visit in a while so I decided we should go back this past weekend. Although we initially had no plans for anything there other than catching up with family and friends it happened to be the same weekend of my friend Marissa's brother's engagement party. We got in late Friday night after an interesting drive home.....{another story for another day} and I was exhausted so I just went to my mom's house while Michael headed over to his parent's. Saturday much to my surprise I actually slept in for once. I'm a morning person and have been for about the past year so normally I'm up around 7:30 or before, so sleeping until almost 11 even surprised Michael. Once I got up and awake Michael came over and we got ready to go to lunch with his friends Wanda & Jerry. They are such a sweet couple and I know Michael means a lot to them. After lunch I went home to get Pax so I could meet Maegan downtown to walk the dogs. Maegan's family has the cutest little fur ball ever named Clint. I haven't seen Maegan in a long time so it was really good to catch up and see how things had been going with school, work & her new man that I later got to meet! The pups enjoyed walking around downtown and later going for a small swim, which Clint thoroughly enjoyed. After walking the dogs we headed out to get ready for the engagement party.
Here is a little back story to mine, Marissa & Maegan's friendship. Marissa and I met in kindergarten and later joined the same Girl Scout Troop. In second grade is when Maegan moved to our school and we all became friends. Fast forward to middle school and in 6th grade we met our other best friend, Mallory. Mallory is currently living her dream in England working in PR and exploring England with her Irish boyfriend. We survived middle school together and later on enjoyed high school together. Although we have all been friends for SO long don't be fooled that it has all been perfect. We've had our share of ups and downs...times where we didn't talk, or really annoyed one another and sometimes wondered if we really would be "friends forever." But every-time something goes down, we always bounce back from it, maybe not right away but we try to work through things. I see so many friendships that seemed to be ones that would literally last forever and 4 years later those people don't even speak anymore so it really makes me appreciate our friendship. We've all gone out and made other friends and experienced new places and new things but those 3 girls will hold a huge part of who I am today because they have literally been there for it ALL. I love that when we're all in the same place it's as if no time has passed since we saw each other last and we just pick right up. Here's a little flashback collage of our friendship.

They're going to kill me for posting all of those (sorryguys!) Anyways, now that you know that little back story, back to the weekend. The engagement party was a lot of fun and it was great getting to see people I hadn't seen in a long time. Michael and I were only able to stay for a couple hours because I wanted to spend time with his parents as well while we were home. Sunday was another busy day full of visiting and although I love seeing everyone at home it was so nice to get back to Asheville.
I've learned to really appreciate my time at home and seeing people that I really miss now that we're not living there. Being away from people and situations you're familiar with can be hard but staying in the same small place forever wasn't for me. Being able to step outside of my comfort zone and see new places is something that has become really important to me and something I think everyone should take advantage of while they have the opportunity.
